Personal Hygine | Because You're Probably Dirty

(certain) TOILETRIES MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND

Maybe it's the packaging. Maybe it's the fact that I suck at retaining emotion for my love of a product. I know for a fact that it's not the fact that I'm a neat freak, because I'm not.

Yip, it's probably the packaging.

I dig toiletries.

Eradicate the stereotype that only girls obsess with hygiene. Make-up, yes, is a female obsession (and to the occasional inquisitive male) but the habits of personal hygiene are deeply spread between the sexes. I myself do not exactly obsess over hygiene. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy feeling clean and cannot end the day without a shower, but I don't obsess over it. However I do enjoy trying out various products to help me feel clean, because that is a fantastic sensation.

That's where this post comes in; various toiletries that I like. Call me the Zoella men's addition.

I dig shops such as Lush and Boots and consider my journey into those stores to be pretty manly. I'm pretty sure girls like this?

The following products I have actually used. Finally, something Nathan has actually used rather than perving over it's picture online, with his mouth drooling and eyes wide. This is an actual first-hand source of information.

Call it a review?
I don't know.

If you can't see:
LUSH Party On shower jelly
LUSH Dirty shaving cream
LUSH Ocean Salt face and body scrub

Try these out, male or female. I highly encourage that you do.

The Ideal Gym Bag

Hand-picked items in order to create an expensive, desirable fitness package that activates envy and attraction

Good day my friends!

I have thought about this idea for a while now and have contemplated what items I will include, and I think I have provided you, the readers, with some pretty snazzy products.

Mostly because I've been missing the gym so much, I find it entertaining to troll the interweb in search of fitness items. Mainly to put to use right here. Right Now.
I really do enjoy going to the gym, despite the smell of chlorine and the constant hum of people panting and occasionally groaning as their trainers push them over the edge. Feeling active and fit is a good sensation. It makes you realize that you're doing something that will benefit your body in the future... Until you get kicked out of the gym because one of your relatives didn't pay their fee that month, and you happened to be attached to their account. Thanks mom.

Hectic competition between people at the gym is definitely prominent; fitness wise and product wise. When I say product wise I mean their phone, music player, clothing, shoes and whatever else they've brought with them to indicate they're among higher feudal levels than you.

It does feel good to buy and own things (materialism for the win). Therefore why not show the world what you've got. With humility of course. These gym items selected, are a range of things I stumbled across while trolling around. Things I like obviously.

Due to the immense fun I had while pairing the items together. I have taken the liberty of including 2 categories of each package: Sophisticated/Pompous and Funky/Subtle Wealth.
  1. Sophisticated/Pompous: the visibility of their wealth and class is evident.
  2. Funky/Subtle Wealth: their desirable products are less rigid and formal as category 1. Perhaps more or a mass-appeal is present.
Disclaimer: I'm certainly going to hell, encouraging materialism and external rather than internal improvement goes against almost all the manifestos of most religions. Please remember that none of this is actually meant to influence your life. It's more of a quirky way of enlightening your minds about current products.

1

2.

1. Funky/Subtle Wealth
2. Sophisticated/Pompous

So there we go. That was Über fun to make.

Shower Curtains!

YOU CAN'T RESIST THESE BABIES

Undress, twist, wait, step, shower and repeat. These simple steps are all we really thing about before, during and after a shower. Except that one song that's been held hostage in our heads for days that we can't help singing to due to complete privacy. As you merely stand there for a couple of minutes 'doing your thing', does it every occur to you that the beauty of art can be copied over onto the piece of waterproof fabric that's covering your hoo-haa?

These bawn-digidy designs are awaiting purchase! From Urban Outfitters of course. Their unique and colourful array of curtains add a massive spark of colour and happiness to your lavatory. Never again will you abandon the thought of these designs' existence because you'll be seeing them every day. I would imagine that they uplift one's mood. I would certainly behave more trippy once laying eyes on all of that colour.

For them chikas

I bet this brightened your world.

Apps on my Mind

CURRENT APP OBSESSIONS

Before the occasional ipad app spring clean, here are a few of my favourites, which will most likely be staying.

Addictive apps are always the best ones. We hate admitting it. But they are actually a great thing. Well that's what I think. My homework and mother beg to differ. I will now proceed to tell you why they are great. Here goes Nathan justifying why he should rather play on his ipad than revise for exams...

Addictive apps always provide one with entertainment. Never will you utter the world 'bored' as they are an immediate treatment for the syndrome. With a world of strategic, continuous and pointless stroylines, one may feel like they're wasting their time but continue with the game anyway.

So that's my theory. Your lemons for that lemonade.

Without further or do, here are my current favourites and possible remainers on the tablet post the spring clean (it's memory has exceeded, oops).

1. TEMPLE RUN OZ

(Not free, sorry)

Thee best Temple Run out there. No words can describe the enjoyment and satisfaction one receives when participating in this version of Temple Run. With various scenes, it is the most spontaneous and exciting Temple Run out there. Give your tablet it's very own dpl and put this at the top of your list. Bordom is never even seen on the horizon as this game will never tire.

2. CANDY CRUSH

(Free)

I am afraid to mention that I've hopped on the band-waggon with Candy Crush. I willingly enjoy it despite forceful downloading of the app. It's not even fun. That's not why I play it. I'm assuming that people play it purely because of it's addiction rays that it ejects out into our brains. Ones anger and frustration of losing a level only makes you want to play it more. If only advertisements worked as well as this. Wow I'd be broke then.

3. PLAGUE INC.

(Free)

With its cruel and amoral storyline, this game is fantastic. Is it wrong to create a deadly disease and try and kill every human on earth, and enjoy it? Eh, quite frankly I enjoy it. Addictive and fun. It combines some of my favourite things; world affairs, geography and science. With a range of symptoms and transmission methods, your unique disease is bound to contain a lethality to wipe out a fictional world.

4. PHYZIOS

(Free)

A physics simulator. Only my favourite type of app. Experiment with a range of solids, mix them together and observe chemicals and reactants as they would appear in nature. Displayed in the picture (left) are walls with water gushing down, one of the many combinations one can create. Addictive and interesting, this app contains infinite objects and chemicals for you to play around with. Give science a try, it won't bite. Well it shouldn't. It's free and small in memory capacity. Perfect for on-the-go downloading.

5. SPORCLE

(Free)

How about some trivia? What about an app for it? Name the subject, Sporcle has a quiz related to it. I personally enjoy doing the geography quizzes. I must say that my US States knowledge has greatly increased thanks to this handy fellow. Impress friends with your new-found knowledge and test the knowledge which you already have. Embracing knowledge is always a good thing.

So there you have it; some of my bordom cures and additional dpl app add-ons.

Have a ball, and trust me, you will.

Because Reading is Good

BOOKS FOR THE APPROACHING WINTER

In the Southern Hemisphere

Thanks to my current school set work book, I have gotten back into reading. This is a big step for me because I've been rather off the frivolous task for a few years. When starting a book, I often find myself loitering elsewhere while reading the fine text. Having to focus my eyes on such fine print was a constant challenge which later contributed to me getting glasses. Now that it's much easier, I am back on the reading band-waggon!

I am not fond of fiction, nor do I call myself a lexophile. I merely enjoy reading 'information': encyclopedias and such. I'm not the type to absorb every word of a book. Publications such as magazines and newspaper articles filled to the brim with exciting events and world issues have forcibly taken me in and become my reading niche.

I can proudly say that I read boring books because of this. Books on architecture, travel, graphic design, photography, infographics and well, anything packed tightly with factual writing. These types are a favourite and prominent member of my bookshelf. I obviously don't think they're boring but others might beg to differ.

What caused me to dwell on my reading habits and choices in the first place was a list of books I had documented a while back that I was meaning to buy. Books which reflect the same categories mentioned above and were on the market at the time.
As mentioned in the previous post:
"An important literary addition to ones dpl can always be a good thing. Something to cancel out the total lack of importance that most of the other products probably have."
Thanks to the resurrection of this list, I now have an excuse to troll the Internet to search for books to re-create it and to share my findings in a blog post.

Here are my findings:

SAY WHAT? Yes, a Beatles comic book. I would like to see one idiotic person tell me this isn't the greatest invention to land on earth since sliced bread. I have not personally held this book in my hands but I'm certain that once its within my midst I will not let it go.
This range of books I really like. There's three that I know of: Politics, Philosophy and Economics. If you purchase all three you have a university degree! The vocabulary is complex but with entertaining diagrams and illustrations it feels comprehensible. I own this book and understanding it is a walk in the park. Its approach to controversial ideas and philosophical opinions are humorous yet serious and always leave you wanting to read more. Just read it. You won't be sorry.

One of my favourite books of all time. Infographics. Infographics. INFOGRAPHICS. I love them. Infographics are visuals which express various statistics through pictures. Their fun and colourful pictures are designed to get information retained in your brain. Now that the obsession rant is over, I can tell you that this book is  made up of them. It is a book which you can read over again because, I promise you, the information wont stick the first time. Show off with your new-found knowledge of global issues once you've read this. Any age can read this, that's the beauty of infographics, anybody can understand them. As long as you have the ability to read obviously.
From geography to science to pop culture, this book has explanations and information about it. These types of books prove to the world that we are able to learn every yoctometer of information if we really want to. References beyond your imagination and on every single earthly topic this world has to offer are featured in this book.

So here are some of my findings. If you are one who thinks these books are boring, I'll be more than happy to never see your knowledge-deprived eyes glancing over at this blog ever again.

Let this books be a genre indication rather than prescribed reads by a person who hasn't at all made a literary difference to the world, yet. To take one thing out of this, is the genre, not so much the book.

Books are great.
Knowledge is fantastic.
Research topics until your eyes turn green. (?)

Magazine Collections

My Favourite Magazines

An important literary addition to ones dpl can always be a good thing. Something to cancel out the total lack of importance that most of the other products probably have. Let's be serious, most products that we want more than need don't have much of a purpose.

Monocle is my favourite magazine. It touches all (my) interests, provides innovative and intelligent articles with a sophisticated yet juvenile approach to media and up-to-date information about world issues and foreign affairs. With a hint of architecture, travel and culture - it's right up my alley.

It's a magazine that one can live their life by, it's my bible, my news channel choice and my insight onto the rest of the world.

Magazine collections are just as much a desirable product than any gadget/clothing/bum cream on the market. I myself collect two magazines, Wallpaper* and the one displayed above (Monocle). It gives me pleasure to gaze at the overly-full shelf above my desk and to admire the accomplishment and patience it's taken to collect those issues every month.

A tip when starting a magazine collection is to (obviously) choose a magazine that interests you. This may sound as if I'm talking to a bunch of four year-olds but honestly, you might buy a magazine and then never read it. Therefore, buy one that you know you'll read. When the new month approaches, your legs should automatically guide you to a newsstand, with your heart racing of excitement that you will once again be reunited with your bible, your insight to the rest of the world.

Some magazines I recommend:

I highly encourage anyone to start a collection. Today.

Penny Boards!

While glancing over "refraction" as part of my physics curriculum (and the fact that exams are right around the corner and yet I sit here blogging), my mind is in other places. Owning a blog such as this, I am constantly alert regarding things to feature on here. While glancing over on my mental dpl, letting my mind flouder away from physics, I came across an empty space. A Penny Board. A kick-ass one. One that I've handpicked from the sea or ordinary ones. One preferably that I've customized off of their website (provided at the bottom).
It's the perfect size to fill in the mental gap of desirable objects that I wish to own.

I may have jumped onto the bandwagon a little late for this item. But who cares. Pop culture has absorbed this item too quickly for people to be able to keep up. That's my theory.

Where customizing begins

Here are a few customized boards that I came up with. I encourage anyone to check out the website and make your own one or choose from an array of ready-mades.

There are endless possibilities of this item. You suddenly find that time lapses once you've finished customizing a board, only to realise that you want to make another one.

http://www.pennyskateboards.com/ - You know what to do

Have a ball - please feel free to leave a comment or to send your customized board to me in the comments. Would love to see them.

No Purpose Art Prints

Sometimes you get a feeling, when you see a piece of art or photography that you like but you don't quite know why you like it. I must say, I like that feeling. It gives life a sort of spontaneity and humour when you find yourself staring at a picture that mesmerizes you for no perticular reason.

I recently discovered Society6: an online store dedicated to art prints printed on various media. (Sorry if I am a bit slow for discovering this site now rather than a few years ago)

It has changed my life. I find myself automatically typing its url into my searchbar while my eyes wait in anticipation for the site's homepage to appear.

Eventually it appears. I immediately click on 'Art Prints' and an array of categories are positioned on my monitor. Which one do I want to browse (or potentialy purchase from) first?

You see, I like them all. Therefore I cliked 'all' having to avoid having to narrow my choise down to a single category.

It is the ideal website to browse art or photography if you are searching for that mesmarizing feeling of not knowing why you like a specific picture. I strongly advise you to check it out.

Another glorious thing about this site: You can buy different sizes of the prints and can have them printed on pillows, iphone covers, t-shirts, mugs and the list goes on.....

Here's a taster.

So do you understand me when I mention that feeling of not knowing why you like a specific picture?

These are purely a taster not any specific genre or art style. However expect a proper society 6 feature on here soon.
